dive sisters islands 16 dec 06

sink like a stone

at reeffriends' survey dive at sisters islands last saturday, we realised there were not enough weights for everyone. athena gallantly gave up two weights, one to me and the other to tl. eugene contributed another weight to me. so could sink like a stone. very comfortable dive, not much current and visibility was great (for singapore standard) at 5m. i volunteered for the fish survey this time so it was a relaxed dive.

during the last survey trip, i did tape-laying and totally screwed it up by laying it at the wrong depth, and that led to jeff having to reel back all 120m of the tape, and that delayed all the surveys that had to be done for that depth and the currents swept in at that time and it became impossible to complete the surveys. i felt really upset and there was this sinking feeling, which did not go away after several days and i decided not to go for the subsequent survey trip.

anyways, it must have been more than 2 months since that screw-up and i decided to leave the emotional baggage behind and go for this one, which is possibly my last survey trip before leaving for nz.

glad that this one is conducted at sisters' islands, where the reef enhancement units (which looked like laundry baskets) are. i feel glad when i see coral recruits growing on them.

spotted many nudibranchs and flatworms here. but didnt get good pics cos still not familiar with camera.

there are pretty good reefs at sisters islands.

diveslave taking a lunch break.

the rest of the diveslaves, who all look very happy to be slaves for these surveys. well, who wouldnt be? a chance to dive singapore waters and do a little part for our reefs....

king of caustic remarks

sometimes, we think yeyang inherited his 'gift' of making witty (but caustic) remarks from his grandfather. An example of what grandfather would say: ya, drive faster. the faster the better. so that can reach destination sooner. except that it will be the wrong destination (i.e. hell).
