NZ Part 4 - Greymouth

greymouth is the largest town in the west coast of nz south island. note that it's largest, but is not large at all, from my perspective. at the town centre, most of the buildings are like 1-2 storeys high. it's a bustling town and quite popular as a base or stopover point to explore the west coast. some pictures of west coast on the way to greymouth.

reaching soon... welcomed by a massive rock wall

we arrived at the town at dusk. checked into the hostel and practically ran out to catch the sunset. the beach at greymouth is one of the best places to catch sunset. see what a brilliant sunset it was! it was worth the dash.

back to our hostel. for a backpacker's hostel, this place is luxurious! i would say it is an attraction in its own right. it was beautifully decorated with african art, lounge was large and furnished with plush sofas, kitchen was spacious and spick and span... what more can i say? let the pictures do the talking.

they even offer free kayaking!

wished we had more time to enjoy the stay at the hostel.. but it was time to carry on our journey. before we left, walked around town and came by the press house, which had an elaborate mural.
